NSS Shines Bright with Multiple Nominations at the 2023 Swimming NZ Awards

North Shore Swimming has once again proven its prowess in the swimming community with an impressive array of nominations at the 2023 Swimming New Zealand Awards. The club's outstanding athletes and coaches have been recognized across various categories, highlighting NSS's commitment to excellence and development in the sport.

Leading the charge is Asher Smith-Franklin. Asher's remarkable performances in the 2023 calendar year have earned him a prestigious nomination for the Domestic Para Swimmer of the Year award. His dedication and talent have not gone unnoticed, as he continues to inspire both within NSS and the broader swimming community.

Furthermore, NSS's coaching expertise is also celebrated through David Prattley's nomination for the Domestic Para Coach of the Year. Prattley's guidance and mentorship have been instrumental in Asher's success.

NSS's collective achievements extend beyond individual accolades, as the club finds itself in contention for the esteemed Duncan Laing Trophy. This coveted award recognizes the club with the highest combined points in individual events across multiple championships, including the Apollo Projects NZ Swimming Championships and the Apollo Projects NZ Age Group Swimming Championships. NSS's nomination underscores its consistency and competitive edge on the national stage.

In addition to these commendations, NSS demonstrates its commitment to fostering emerging talent with multiple nominations for the Norma Williams Cup - Emerging Swimmer of the Year. Among the nominees are Summer Osborne, representing the Harlequins Zone, Monique Wieruszowski from the Aquaknights Zone, and once again, the exceptional Asher Smith-Franklin in the Para Swimmer category. Their nominations signify NSS's dedication to nurturing young athletes and providing them with the platform to excel.

The awards ceremonies are scheduled to take place during the finals sessions of the NZ Swimming Championships, hosted this week at the Hawkes Bay Regional Aquatic Centre. We extend our congratulations to all the nominees and offer our best wishes as they anticipate the final results!
